Saco Transportation Center, Saco Maine

Referred to as “America's first truly green train station,” the Saco Transportation Center opened on February 27, 2009. Owned and built by the City of Saco, the new green facility provides ticketing and waiting areas for the Amtrak Downeaster to Boston and Portland, as well as office space for the Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

     

Waldo County YMCA, Belfast, Maine

W.H. Demmons Inc., are the design/build engineers for the new Natatorium Addition for Waldo County YMCA located in Belfast, Maine.  We worked in conjunction with Mr. Gary Coccoluto, AIA of Orcutt Associates and the building committee of Waldo ‘Y' to deliver one of the most energy efficient HVAC systems for this type of application, as well as designing and installing a new highly reflective Duro-Last Roofing System.

Maine Central Institute, Pittsfield Maine

In 2001, W.H. Demmons installed the state-of-the-art geothermal heating, cooling and heat recovery system in this 23,000 square foot building.

This is an energy-intensive facility with a winter design load of over 900,000 Btuh due primarily to substantial ventilation requirements.

The new geothermal system drastically reduced energy costs while improving air quality and climate stability.

York County Courthouse, York Maine

In June 2006, W.H. Demmons got the approval to replace the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system in the York Counting Court House, including the geothermal option.

The first year of operation, shows a saving of over $69,000. The court house reduced its dependence on oil by 27,000 gallons per year!

Abromson Community Education Center Abromson Community Education Center, University of Southern Maine

W.H. Demmons was hired by the University of Southern Maine and Construction Manager Granger Northern, Inc. to design and build the HVAC system for the Abromson Community Education Center.

W.H. Demmons teamed with Consigli Construction in constructing the 35,000 square foot education center for the University of Southern Maine. The new LEED Gold Certified building includes offices, classrooms and a 500 seat lecture hall.

The building is another Geothermal heating and cooling project by W.H. Demmons which stresses the concepts of green, energy efficiency and state-of-the-art!
